Microsoft Developers Are Rapidly Adopting Claude Code Despite Deep Ties With OpenAI

The internal landscape at Microsoft is undergoing a quiet but significant shift as engineers increasingly turn to Anthropic’s latest developer tools. While the tech giant maintains a multi-billion dollar partnership with OpenAI, a new reality is emerging on the ground. Claude Code, a command-line interface tool designed to automate complex programming tasks, has seen an unprecedented surge in usage across various Microsoft engineering divisions over the last few months.

This trend highlights a growing pragmatism among software developers who are less concerned with corporate alliances than they are with efficiency.
