The global business landscape is about to witness an unprecedented experiment in sustained collaboration, spearheaded by Dubai. Beginning October 15 and stretching through December 31, a new initiative dubbed OBS – One Business Season, will transform the emirate and its worldwide partners into a continuous forum for economic dialogue and investment. This 100-day marathon aims to bypass the fleeting nature of traditional conferences, fostering deeper connections and more tangible outcomes.
Dubai, long a nexus for international trade and finance, is leveraging its strategic position and robust infrastructure to host what its organizers are touting as the world’s longest business summit. This isn’t merely about extending a typical event; it’s a redefinition of how global leaders, investors, and innovators engage. The vision behind OBS is to create a perpetual ecosystem where ideas can germinate, relationships can mature, and capital can find its most impactful deployment over an extended period. Dr. MAC Munir Ahmad Chaudhry, Group CEO of Al Maktoum Holding Group and the architect of 1BO – One Business Order, articulated this ambition, stating, “The future of global prosperity will not be built by isolated economies or individual organizations. It will be built through collaboration, trust, and visionary leadership that brings the world together for shared progress.”
The sheer scale of OBS is ambitious, projecting engagement from over 100 countries, attracting a million visitors, and drawing more than 10,000 investors and 1,000 global business leaders. This extensive reach is designed to encompass a diverse network, including global family offices, sovereign wealth funds, diplomatic missions, institutional investors, entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, and government policymakers. The organizers anticipate that this sustained engagement will culminate in the participation of over 10,000 companies, reaching a global audience exceeding one billion people through various platforms. It’s a bold play to move beyond episodic interactions to a continuous cycle of opportunity creation.
Central to the OBS framework are 10 flagship events, complemented by over 50 partner events organized by various global institutions. These gatherings will span high-level discussions, investment forums, industry roundtables, and innovation showcases. The entire 100-day period is structured into five strategic phases, meticulously designed to guide participants through a progressive journey from initial engagement to the forging of concrete partnerships. This multi-layered approach seeks to ensure that the momentum generated during the initial phases translates into tangible projects and investments by the season’s close.
The initiative is buttressed by the 1B Business Ecosystem, an interconnected framework intended to facilitate global economic collaboration. This ecosystem comprises several strategic pillars, including 1B.World, which aims to connect entrepreneurs, investors, and institutions; 1Be – One Banking Ecosystem, designed to support global financial integration; and 1BZ – One Business Zone, positioned as a gateway for international companies seeking expansion. These components are intended to provide the underlying infrastructure that allows OBS to function not merely as a series of events, but as a comprehensive, ongoing platform for economic cooperation.
Dr. Chaudhry underscored Dubai’s pivotal role, noting, “Dubai has become a global symbol of what visionary leadership and international collaboration can achieve. Through OBS – One Business Season, we are extending this spirit of collaboration to the global business community for 100 days of dialogue, partnership, and opportunity.” This statement encapsulates the emirate’s ambition to solidify its position as a global gateway for innovation and investment, acting as the epicenter for a business season that connects markets and industries across continents, ultimately aiming to shape a new culture of global cooperation.
